Alumni Day at St. Augustine’s School began early on 27 August with the Sasonian Monsoon Run, a 5 km run and walk that brought together Sasonians, present students and parents across various age categories. The event was organised by the School with inputs from the Sasonian Alumni Association of Kalimpong (SAAK).

Beginning at 5:30 in the morning from Mela Ground, participants made their way via Atisha Road to the School Ground. The mist and cool Kalimpong morning gave the route a character entirely appropriate to a Monsoon Run.

The event was as much about participation and community as competition. Parents and children had the opportunity to run or walk together, while former students joined the present school community in an energetic start to Alumni Day.

The morning programme concluded by around 10:30 a.m. Breakfast was provided at the school, and every participant received a specially designed Monsoon Run memento — a much-appreciated reminder of the occasion.

The run was only the beginning of the day. Alumni Day continued with other activities at the school, including football and the Annual General Meeting, giving Sasonians further opportunities to meet, reconnect and participate in the life of their alma mater.

With fitness, friendship and generations of the Sasonian community coming together, the Monsoon Run provided a fitting opening to a memorable Alumni Day.
